An exceptional probably late 1950s–early 1960s coat by Lilli Ann, made from a richly textured black and ivory wool woven in Paris, as indicated by the original “Tissé à Paris – pour Lilli Ann Paris” label.
The cut is particularly beautiful: a generous A-line silhouette falls away from the shoulders into a sweeping, almost circular hem, balanced by wide bracelet-length sleeves and an oversized sculptural collar. The diagonal black-and-ivory weave exaggerates the movement of the coat and gives the substantial wool an almost handwoven appearance.
